Simulation Engineer (Avionics)

Sidereus Space Dynamics is at the forefront of revolutionizing space access through its pioneering reusable single-stage launch vehicles, tailored for ultra-responsive orbital access.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop and optimize simulation models to analyze the physical behavior of systems, with a strong emphasis on heat dissipation and electromagnetic field interactions.
  • Utilize advanced Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and Finite Element Method (FEM) tools such as ANSYS, OpenFOAM, COMSOL, and CST Microwave Studio to perform detailed simulations of thermal management systems and antenna designs.
  • Design and simulate heat sinks, antennas, and other critical components, ensuring efficient performance through rigorous thermal and electromagnetic analysis.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate simulation results into practical designs, employing both additive manufacturing techniques (such as 3D printing) and traditional CNC machining to produce high-precision components.
  • Conduct sensitivity analyses and optimization studies to enhance the reliability and efficiency of designs, addressing potential issues such as overheating, signal interference, and mechanical stress.
  • Work closely with hardware teams to integrate simulation findings into the overall product design, ensuring seamless operation and meeting performance specifications.
  • Develop and maintain simulation models that reflect real-world conditions, continuously refining these models based on experimental data and validation testing.
  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in simulation technologies, manufacturing processes, and material science to ensure cutting-edge solutions in product development.
  • Apply advanced problem-solving techniques to address complex challenges in thermal management, electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), and structural integrity.
  • Engage in continuous learning and improvement, contributing to the development of new methodologies and tools for simulation-based design.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or a closely related field.
  • Strong foundation in physics, particularly in thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and electromagnetism.
  • Proficiency in simulation tools such as ANSYS, OpenFOAM, COMSOL, and CST Microwave Studio.
  • Experience with both CFD and FEM analysis in industrial applications.
  • Knowledge of additive manufacturing processes and CNC machining for prototype and production-level component fabrication.
  • Understanding of material properties and their impact on thermal and electromagnetic performance.
  • Ability to analyze complex systems and translate simulation results into actionable design improvements.

Preferred Skills:

  • Expertise in thermal and electromagnetic simulations for electronic components and systems.
  • Familiarity with radiation and heat transfer simulations in harsh environments, such as space or high-altitude conditions.
  • Experience with designing for manufacturability (DFM), particularly in environments requiring high precision and reliability.
  • Ability to work with multidisciplinary teams, including hardware, software, and manufacturing engineers.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and solve complex simulation and design challenges.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new simulation tools and methodologies as needed.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex technical concepts to diverse teams.

Salary And Benefits:

For this role, we offer a starting salary ranging from €30,000 and €55,000, commensurate with your qualifications and experience. Our benefits package includes:

  • Meal card recharged monthly for added convenience.
  • Possibility of accessing company’s stock option plan.
